Angle of Attack (AoA)

Formal Definition

The angle between the chord line of an airfoil and the direction of the oncoming air (relative wind).

Contextual Application

A critical safety metric; exceeding the 'Critical Angle of Attack' results in an aerodynamic stall, regardless of airspeed.

Example in Context

"The pilot monitored the AoA indicator to ensure the aircraft remained above the stall margin during the slow-flight maneuver."

Common Misuse

Confused with 'Pitch Angle'; Pitch is relative to the horizon, AoA is relative to the wind.
