Use this scorecard after every interview round. Scoring is 1 (weak) to 5 (exceptional) on each dimension. Total out of 30. We suggest a minimum of 22 for a hire.

Skills — 50% weight

  • Mechanics (grammar, punctuation, spelling): /5
  • Style adherence (AP, Chicago, or our house style): /5
  • Editorial judgement (structural, voice, reader fit): /5

Ownership — 25% weight

  • Pushes back constructively: /5
  • Catches issues not asked about: /5

Culture fit — 25% weight

  • Collaborative with writers and peers: /5
