CRAFFT is the most widely used and validated substance abuse screening instrument for adolescents and young adults. Each letter represents a specific question domain: riding in a Car driven by someone under the influence, using substances to Relax, using Alone, Forgetting things while using, Friends or family expressing concern, and getting into Trouble while using. A score of 2 or higher indicates significant risk for substance use disorder and warrants further evaluation or intervention.
