A 30-question multiple-choice and true/false diagnostic covering grammar, punctuation, and usage. The universal baseline for editorial and communications competence.
The Grammar Test uses 30 multiple-choice and true/false questions drawn from our bank of 10,000+ items. Questions are randomised per session and cover: subject-verb agreement, pronoun case, modifier placement, punctuation (commas, semicolons, apostrophes, colons), active vs passive voice, parallel structure, and commonly confused words.
Candidates choose the grammatically correct version of a sentence from four or five options, or indicate whether a given sentence is correct or contains an error. Questions are phrased in a variety of registers — formal, journalistic, academic, and corporate — to reflect real-world editorial contexts.
The Grammar Test is the most widely used test on the platform. It serves as a domain-agnostic baseline for any role that involves writing, editing, communications, or content. Many clients use it as a first-round screen before sending longer editing or proofreading assessments to shortlisted candidates.
