These terms govern your use of EditingTests.com, the specialist editorial assessment platform trusted by 21,348+ organisations since 1998. By accessing our platform, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using editingtests.com (the “Platform”), registering for an account, purchasing credits, or sending a candidate invitation, you (“you”, “Client”, “User”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.
If you are using the Platform on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms. In that case, “you” and “Client” refers to that entity.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.
EditingTests.com is operated by EditFast, an unincorporated business based in British Columbia, Canada (“EditFast”, “EditingTests.com”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

EditingTests.com provides professional online editorial aptitude assessments for recruitment and talent evaluation. Our comprehensive testing suite includes:

Platform Features
- A credit-based system for purchasing and deploying candidate invitations
- A Client dashboard for managing invitations, viewing results and downloading reports
- Percentile benchmarking against our database of 130,000+ candidate results
- Optional co-branded reporting and candidate certificates
- Co-branded assessment delivery — your logo alongside EditingTests.com branding
- API access via personal API tokens, mintable from the client dashboard. Tokens are scope-restricted (invitations:create, invitations:read, sessions:read, reports:read, webhooks:manage) and revocable at any time.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend or discontinue any aspect of the Services with reasonable notice. We will not modify the core assessment products in ways that materially degrade their validity without notice.
Account Registration and Eligibility
To access Client features, you must register for an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current and complete registration information
- Maintain and promptly update your account information
- Keep your login credentials confidential and not share them with third parties
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
You must be at least 18 years of age to register. Accounts are for professional and business use only. We reserve the right to refuse registration or terminate accounts at our discretion.
Credits, Pricing and Payment
Credit System Overview
Our Services operate on a credit basis. One credit entitles the Client to send one candidate invitation for any single test or multi-test package, regardless of the number of component tests included.

Credits never expire and carry over indefinitely
Non-transferable
Credits may not be transferred to another account or entity
Non-refundable
Purchased credits are not refundable (see refund section)
Pricing Structure
Credit pricing is displayed on our Pricing page and is subject to change with 30 days’ notice to registered Clients. Price changes will not affect credits already purchased. Enterprise volume pricing is available by contacting us directly.
Payment Processing
All payments are processed by Stripe Checkout. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We do not store payment card data on our servers. All transactions are in USD unless otherwise stated.
Refund Policy
Credits are non-refundable once purchased, except where:
- A technical fault on our platform directly caused a credit to be consumed without delivering a valid test session to the candidate
- Required by applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction
Refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of the relevant transaction by emailing [email protected] with full details. We will investigate and respond within 5 business days.
Add-On Services
Co-branding (adding your company logo to reports and certificates) is a one-time fee of $199 USD applied to your account permanently. Candidate certificates are $50 USD per certificate, paid by the candidate. All add-on purchases are final.
Client Responsibilities and Acceptable Use
Professional Use Requirements
You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
- Use the Platform to discriminate unlawfully against candidates on the basis of any protected characteristic
- Send unsolicited invitations to individuals who have not applied for or consented to a role with your organisation
- Share, publish or distribute assessment questions, passages, or scoring rubrics outside your internal hiring process
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy or replicate our assessment content or methodology
- Use the Platform to benchmark individuals for purposes other than genuine professional recruitment or talent evaluation
- Automate interactions with the Platform without our prior written consent
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform or its underlying infrastructure
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, other accounts, or our systems
Candidate Treatment Standards
You agree to:
- Inform candidates that they will be assessed using a third-party platform (EditingTests.com) and provide sufficient notice
- Use assessment results as one factor in a holistic hiring process, not as the sole determinant of employment decisions
- Handle candidate results with appropriate confidentiality
- Respond to candidate requests for access to their results in accordance with applicable employment and data protection law
- Not share individual candidate results publicly without the candidate’s consent
Data Protection Compliance
In your use of the Platform, you are the data controller for Candidate personal data. You warrant that:
- You have a lawful basis for processing candidate data in connection with your recruitment process
- You have provided candidates with appropriate privacy notices
- You will comply with all applicable data protection law, including GDPR where applicable
EditingTests.com acts as your data processor for Candidate data. On request, we will enter into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) meeting the requirements of GDPR Article 28.
Assessment Integrity Requirements
You must not:
- Provide candidates with access to assessment questions, model answers or scoring criteria in advance of testing
- Allow or encourage candidates to circumvent our anti-cheat measures
- Conduct assessments on behalf of candidates or permit third parties to complete assessments in a candidate’s name
We reserve the right to flag or invalidate sessions where anti-cheat monitoring detects anomalous behaviour, and to notify the Client accordingly.
Candidate Responsibilities
Candidates who access the Platform via an invitation link agree to:
- Complete the assessment honestly and without assistance from any other person or resource, unless otherwise stated in the test instructions
- Not record, copy, share or distribute assessment content in any form
- Acknowledge that their results will be shared with the Client who invited them
- Acknowledge that their anonymised score data will be included in our benchmarking database
Candidates have no contractual relationship with EditingTests.com regarding employment outcomes. Hiring decisions are made solely by the Client.
Intellectual Property Rights
Our Content and Technology
All content on the Platform, including but not limited to assessment questions, passages, scoring algorithms, software, designs, text, graphics and documentation, is the exclusive intellectual property of EditingTests.com or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other applicable laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in our intellectual property other than a limited licence to use the Platform for its intended purpose.
Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you upload or provide to the Platform (such as candidate email addresses). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to use such content solely for the purpose of delivering the Services.
Candidate Submissions
Candidate assessment submissions (answers, essays, editing work) may be reviewed by us for quality assurance and test validation purposes, in anonymised form. No individual submissions are published or disclosed without consent.
Certificates and Co-Branding
Candidate certificates issued by EditingTests.com are verifiable at editingtests.com/verify and are associated with a specific test session. Certificates may not be altered, fraudulently claimed or misrepresented. We reserve the right to revoke certificates where fraud or misrepresentation is established. Co-branded materials must not be used in a manner that implies endorsement beyond the assessment context.
Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Service Disclaimer
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
Assessment Disclaimer
Our assessments measure specific editorial skills under controlled conditions. They are designed for use as one input in a professional recruitment process. EditingTests.com does not warrant that assessment results will predict job performance, and we accept no liability for employment decisions made on the basis of results.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, EDITINGTESTS.COM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR DIRECT DAMAGES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO EDITINGTESTS.COM IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless EditingTests.com, its officers, employees and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Platform in violation of these Terms; (b) your breach of any applicable law, including data protection law; (c) your employment decisions made using our assessment results; or (d) any claim by a Candidate arising from your conduct in connection with the recruitment process.
Term and Termination
Agreement Duration
These Terms remain in effect from the date of your first use of the Platform until terminated.
Termination by You
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Unused credits will not be refunded on account closure.
Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if we determine, in our reasonable discretion, that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent or illegal conduct, or posed a risk to the integrity of the Platform or other users. We will give notice where practicable.
Effect of Termination
On termination, your right to access the Platform ceases. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including Sections 7, 9, 10 and 12) will survive termination.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved after 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, Canada.
Clients based in other jurisdictions may also have rights under their local mandatory consumer or commercial protection laws, which are not excluded by this clause.
General Provisions
- Entire Agreement
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and EditingTests.com relating to the Platform and supersede all prior agreements.
- Severability
- If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
- Waiver
- Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of future enforcement rights.
- Assignment
- You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights to a successor entity.
- Force Majeure
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Changes to Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to active Clients by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
