The Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) is a biennial national survey conducted by the CDC that monitors priority health risk behaviors among high school students. The survey covers six categories of behavior: behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence; tobacco use; alcohol and other drug use; sexual behaviors that contribute to unintended pregnancy and STDs; unhealthy dietary behaviors; and physical inactivity. Data from YRBSS is used to inform public health policy and adolescent health programming.
