Gait apraxia, also known as frontal gait disorder or magnetic gait, is a higher-order motor disorder characterized by difficulty initiating and executing normal walking patterns despite intact lower limb strength, sensation, and cerebellar function. Patients typically exhibit a shuffling, wide-based gait with hesitation in starting to walk and turning. The feet may appear to stick to the ground, hence the term 'magnetic gait.' This condition is often associated with frontal lobe pathology, normal pressure hydrocephalus, or diffuse white matter disease.
