Cohesivity is one of the key biophysical parameters used to characterise hyaluronic acid and other dermal fillers, alongside G-prime (elastic modulus) and viscosity. A highly cohesive filler maintains its shape under compression without fragmenting, making it preferred for structural volumisation in areas such as the chin or jawline. Low cohesivity fillers spread more freely and are favoured for fine superficial lines. Editors must not substitute 'cohesivity' with 'viscosity' or 'elasticity', as these are distinct rheological concepts. The term is often found in product monographs, clinical review articles, and comparative filler studies.
