Periorbital Hollowing

Periorbital hollowing encompasses volume depletion in the tear trough, inferior orbital rim, and lateral orbital zones, often creating dark circles and a fatigued appearance. It results from age-related fat compartment atrophy, ligament laxity, and skeletal remodelling. In editorial copy, 'periorbital hollowing' should be distinguished from 'periorbital oedema' and 'periorbital pigmentation', which describe different pathologies.
