Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is produced by centrifuging a sample of the patient's blood to concentrate platelets and their associated growth factors, which are then injected or topically applied to stimulate collagen production, tissue repair, and hair follicle activity. In aesthetic dermatology it is used for facial rejuvenation, under-eye hollowing, and androgenetic alopecia. Editors must hyphenate the compound modifier: 'platelet-rich plasma' (not 'platelet rich plasma'). The procedure is colloquially known as the 'vampire facial', a term that should be flagged as informal in clinical copy.
