Radiofrequency Microneedling

A minimally invasive procedure combining microneedle penetration with radiofrequency energy delivery to stimulate collagen and elastin remodelling in the dermis.

Full Definition

Radiofrequency microneedling (RFMN) uses an array of insulated or non-insulated needles to deliver radiofrequency energy at controlled depths within the dermis. The thermal injury triggers neocollagenesis and neoelastinogenesis without significant epidermal damage. It is used to treat skin laxity, acne scarring, and rhytides. Editors must hyphenate 'radiofrequency microneedling' only when used as a compound modifier preceding a noun. Device brand names (e.g., Morpheus8, Sylfirm X) should not be substituted for the generic procedure name in clinical documents.

Usage note: Do not abbreviate to 'RF needling' in formal clinical documents without first establishing the full term. Distinguish carefully from non-energised microneedling.
