Full Definition
An aerodrome hotspot is a location on the movement area of an airport at which risk of collision or runway incursion — whether between aircraft, or between aircraft and vehicles — is increased due to factors such as complex geometry, poor visibility, confusing signage, or historical incident patterns. Hotspots are published on aerodrome charts and annotated with a number (e.g., HS 1, HS 2). Editors must reproduce hotspot identifiers exactly and ensure that hotspot descriptions in operations manuals accurately reflect the corresponding published chart annotation. The term should not be confused with its technology usage (Wi-Fi hotspot).
Usage
Usage note: Aerodrome hotspots are identified with the abbreviation 'HS' followed by a number on charts (e.g., HS 3). Reproduce identifier and description exactly as published by the aerodrome authority. Do not confuse with generic use of 'hotspot'.
