Low-Visibility Procedures (LVP) are implemented when Runway Visual Range (RVR) or meteorological visibility drops to levels that require special precautions to maintain aerodrome safety. Under LVP, access to the manoeuvring area is severely restricted, vehicle movements are minimised, and additional communication requirements come into force. Editors must always hyphenate the adjectival compound form ('low-visibility procedures') and abbreviate to 'LVP' after first use. The related term 'Low-Visibility Operations (LVO)' describes flight operations under such conditions and must not be used interchangeably with LVP, which refers specifically to ground-level protective measures.
