Intimal dissection is a vascular complication characterized by the separation of the innermost arterial layer (intima) from the underlying medial layer, creating a false lumen or flap within the vessel. This condition can occur spontaneously, result from trauma, or develop as a complication of endovascular procedures. Depending on the extent and location, intimal dissection may cause flow limitation, vessel occlusion, or serve as a nidus for thrombosis.
