Full Definition

Aortic pseudocoarctation is a congenital anomaly characterized by elongation and kinking of the aortic arch, typically at the ligamentum arteriosum level, without creating significant hemodynamic obstruction across the narrowed segment. Unlike true coarctation, pseudocoarctation does not produce a pressure gradient between the upper and lower extremities. This condition may be associated with other cardiac anomalies and can present diagnostic challenges on imaging studies, requiring careful differentiation from true coarctation through hemodynamic assessment.
