Computed tomographic angiography (CTA) is a sophisticated non-invasive imaging modality that combines high-resolution CT scanning with intravenous contrast administration to provide detailed visualization of arterial anatomy. Modern multidetector CT systems enable rapid acquisition of thin-section images during optimal arterial enhancement, allowing for high-quality multiplanar reconstructions and three-dimensional vessel rendering. CTA offers excellent spatial resolution for detecting stenoses, aneurysms, and other vascular pathology while providing information about surrounding anatomical structures. The technique requires careful timing of contrast injection and image acquisition to optimize arterial enhancement while minimizing venous contamination.
