The air-pressure level (in daPa) at which tympanometric compliance reaches its maximum, indicating the pressure at which the middle ear system is most mobile.

Full Definition

Tympanometric peak pressure (TPP) is derived from the tympanogram and reflects the pressure in the external ear canal at which middle-ear admittance is greatest, serving as an indirect estimate of middle-ear pressure. A TPP near 0 daPa is considered normal; significantly negative values (e.g., below −100 daPa) may indicate Eustachian tube dysfunction or developing middle-ear effusion. TPP is one of three key tympanometric parameters—alongside static admittance and ear canal volume—used to classify tympanogram types. Editors should use 'daPa' (decapascals) as the correct unit, not 'dB' or 'mmH₂O.'
