Auditory Steady-State Response
An electrophysiological measure of hearing sensitivity in which the auditory system's response to amplitude- and/or frequency-modulated tones is analysed in the frequency domain to estimate audiometric thresholds.

The Auditory Steady-State Response (ASSR) is an objective, electrophysiological test that uses modulated carrier tones to evoke a steady-state electrical response from the auditory cortex and brainstem. Unlike the Auditory Brainstem Response, ASSR can test multiple frequencies simultaneously and is especially useful for estimating frequency-specific thresholds in infants or patients who cannot participate in behavioural testing. Results are expressed in dB eHL (estimated Hearing Level) and are statistically determined rather than visually identified.
