Radiologic examination using oral contrast to evaluate bariatric surgical anatomy and detect complications.
Full Definition
A diagnostic imaging procedure where patients ingest contrast material (typically barium or water-soluble contrast) while undergoing fluoroscopic or CT imaging to assess the integrity and function of bariatric surgical reconstructions. This study can identify leaks, strictures, obstructions, or anatomical abnormalities in the postoperative period. It's often performed routinely in the early postoperative period before initiating oral intake.
