Systematic monitoring of nutritional status and supplementation needs in bariatric surgery patients.

Full Definition

A comprehensive program of laboratory testing, clinical assessment, and dietary evaluation designed to detect and prevent nutritional deficiencies following bariatric surgery. This includes regular monitoring of vitamins (B12, B1, folate, fat-soluble vitamins), minerals (iron, calcium, zinc), protein markers, and bone health parameters. Surveillance protocols typically intensify in the first year postoperatively and continue lifelong with varying frequencies.
