Luminal B is one of the intrinsic molecular subtypes of breast cancer, defined by estrogen receptor and/or progesterone receptor positivity combined with higher proliferation indices (typically Ki-67 >20%) or HER2 overexpression. These tumors generally have a more aggressive behavior than luminal A tumors and may require chemotherapy in addition to endocrine therapy. The subtype classification guides treatment decisions and prognostic assessments. Luminal B tumors can be further subdivided into HER2-positive and HER2-negative variants.
