Full Definition

Laser Doppler imaging (LDI) is a non-contact, non-invasive technology that measures tissue perfusion by detecting the movement of red blood cells in capillaries. In burn care, LDI provides objective assessment of burn depth by measuring blood flow patterns, helping clinicians distinguish between superficial and deep burns that may require different treatment approaches. This technology has largely replaced subjective clinical assessment for burn depth determination in many centers.
