Collision mapping is an advanced electrophysiological mapping technique that involves simultaneous or near-simultaneous pacing from multiple cardiac sites to identify conduction pathways, anatomical barriers, and functional blocks. When two wavefronts collide, they annihilate each other, creating a characteristic pattern that helps define the cardiac substrate. This technique is particularly useful for identifying protected isthmuses in ventricular tachycardia circuits and for confirming complete linear ablation lesions. Collision mapping provides detailed information about conduction properties that cannot be obtained from conventional activation mapping.
