Coronary sinus musculature refers to the cardiac muscle fibers that extend into the coronary sinus and its tributaries, including the great cardiac vein and middle cardiac vein. These muscle sleeves can conduct electrical impulses and serve as pathways for atrial arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation triggers and atrial tachycardias. The musculature connections between the coronary sinus and left atrium can create additional conduction pathways that may require ablation. Isolation of coronary sinus musculature is sometimes performed during atrial fibrillation ablation procedures to eliminate potential triggers and maintain procedural success.
