Full Definition
A complex cardiac surgical procedure that replaces the aortic valve, ascending aorta, and aortic root with a composite graft containing a prosthetic valve. The coronary arteries are detached from the native aortic root and reimplanted into the graft (coronary reimplantation). This procedure is indicated for patients with aortic root aneurysms, aortic regurgitation, or complex aortic pathology involving multiple structures. The operation carries higher risk than isolated valve replacement but addresses extensive disease in a single procedure.
