Full Definition
A rare but serious procedural complication where a coronary guidewire becomes trapped within the coronary vessel and cannot be safely removed. This may result from wire fracture, entanglement with deployed stents, vessel perforation with wire exit, or excessive vessel tortuosity causing wire kinking. Management strategies include specialized retrieval techniques, snare devices, or surgical extraction in severe cases. Documentation must include wire type, location, and retrieval method attempted.
