PADP

Full Definition

Pulmonary artery diastolic pressure is the pressure measured in the pulmonary artery during diastole when the pulmonary valve is closed. In the absence of pulmonary vascular disease, PADP closely approximates pulmonary capillary wedge pressure and left atrial pressure, making it a useful indicator of left ventricular preload. PADP monitoring is valuable in cardiovascular anesthesia for guiding fluid management and assessing left heart function.

Usage note: Include units (mmHg) and distinguish from other PA pressure measurements.
