SVR

Measurement of resistance to blood flow in the systemic circulation, calculated from hemodynamic parameters.

Full Definition

Systemic vascular resistance represents the total resistance that blood encounters as it flows through the systemic circulation. In cardiovascular anesthesia, SVR is calculated using the formula: (MAP - CVP) / CO × 80, where MAP is mean arterial pressure, CVP is central venous pressure, and CO is cardiac output. SVR monitoring helps guide vasoactive drug therapy and assess the patient's hemodynamic status during and after cardiac surgery.
