Venous air embolism occurs when air enters the venous circulation and travels to the right heart, potentially causing cardiovascular collapse. Detection relies on transesophageal echocardiography, capnography changes, and hemodynamic monitoring. Treatment involves immediate positioning, aspiration of air, and supportive measures.
