The American Heart Association (AHA) 17-segment model is the standard nomenclature for left ventricular segmentation in cardiovascular imaging. This model divides the left ventricle into 17 segments: six basal, six mid-ventricular, four apical, and one true apex. Each segment is assigned to a specific coronary artery territory, facilitating correlation between imaging findings and coronary anatomy. This standardization ensures consistent communication between imaging modalities and across different institutions, improving reproducibility in research and clinical practice.
