Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is an advanced imaging modality that provides detailed assessment of cardiac anatomy, function, and tissue characteristics without ionizing radiation. Cardiac MRI offers superior soft tissue contrast and can evaluate myocardial viability, detect infiltrative diseases, and assess congenital heart disease. The technique includes cine imaging for function, late gadolinium enhancement for scar detection, and T1/T2 mapping for tissue characterization. Cardiac MRI is considered the gold standard for ventricular volume and mass quantification.
