The Childhood Autism Rating Scale, Second Edition (CARS-2) is a widely used diagnostic tool that helps identify individuals with autism spectrum disorder and distinguishes them from those with other developmental disabilities. The scale consists of 15 items that rate various behaviors and characteristics associated with autism, including social interaction, communication, sensory responses, and repetitive behaviors. The CARS-2 provides both a total score and severity classification (minimal-to-no symptoms, mild-to-moderate symptoms, or severe symptoms) and includes separate forms for different age groups and functioning levels.
