PDMS-2
Also written as: PDMS-2 — Peabody Developmental Motor Scales, Second Edition
A comprehensive assessment of gross and fine motor skills in children from birth through 5 years 11 months.
Full Definition
The Peabody Developmental Motor Scales, Second Edition (PDMS-2) is a standardized assessment tool used to evaluate both gross and fine motor development in young children. The assessment includes six subtests: reflexes, stationary, locomotion, object manipulation, grasping, and visual-motor integration. Results provide age equivalents, percentiles, and standard scores, with composite scores for gross motor, fine motor, and total motor development. The PDMS-2 is commonly used by physical and occupational therapists for diagnosis, program planning, and progress monitoring in early intervention and clinical settings.
Usage
Usage note: Use the number 2, not Roman numeral II. Always capitalize acronym letters.
