Full Definition
Hemineglect, also known as unilateral spatial neglect, results from damage to the right parietal lobe and associated networks. Patients may ignore food on one side of their plate, dress only one side of their body, or fail to acknowledge visitors approaching from the affected side. The condition extends beyond simple sensory loss to encompass attention, intention, and spatial representation deficits. It significantly impacts rehabilitation outcomes and daily functioning.
