Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen induction therapy (CIT) describes any treatment modality that creates controlled micro-injuries to the dermis to trigger the wound-healing cascade and stimulate neocollagenesis. While most commonly associated with mechanical microneedling devices, the term may also encompass radiofrequency-based and laser-based collagen-stimulating procedures. Editors should be aware that 'collagen induction therapy' and 'microneedling' are often used interchangeably but are not strictly synonymous, as CIT is a broader functional descriptor.
