Nasoendotracheal intubation (also written as nasotracheal intubation) is the preferred airway management technique for many intraoral dental and oral-maxillofacial surgical procedures because it moves the endotracheal tube away from the operative field. The tube passes through the nasal passage, past the nasopharynx, and into the trachea, either blindly or with laryngoscopic guidance. Editors must note that 'nasoendotracheal', 'naso-endotracheal', and 'nasotracheal' are all used in the literature; house style should be applied consistently. Contraindications such as mid-face fractures or coagulopathy are typically documented in the anesthetic plan.
