Full Definition
The Pink Aesthetic Score (PAS) was introduced by Fürhauser et al. (2005) and evaluates peri-implant soft-tissue outcomes across seven criteria: mesial papilla, distal papilla, soft-tissue level, soft-tissue contour, alveolar process deficiency, soft-tissue colour, and soft-tissue texture. Each criterion is scored 0–2, yielding a maximum of 14. Editors working on implant aesthetic outcome studies must capitalise all three words of the proper noun and preserve the slash construction PAS/WES when the White Aesthetic Score is reported alongside it. The score is commonly abbreviated PAS and must not be confused with the broader 'aesthetic index' terminology.

Usage note: Always capitalise as a proper noun. Abbreviate as PAS after first use. When paired with WES, render as 'PAS/WES' with a forward slash and no spaces.
