A curing unit (also called a light-curing unit or LCU) is an instrument that delivers controlled irradiance to a dental material at the chairside. Modern units are predominantly LED-based, emitting blue light centred near 470 nm, though polywave LED units emit additional peaks to accommodate alternative photoinitiators. In dental materials manuscripts, parameters such as irradiance (mW/cm²), exposure duration (seconds), and light tip diameter are essential reporting elements. Editors should verify that these parameters are consistently reported in SI units and that the device brand name, if given, is accompanied by the manufacturer's name and location in parentheses.
