CCPDMA

Also written as: CCPDMA — Complete Circumferential Peripheral and Deep Margin Assessment

Complete circumferential peripheral and deep margin assessment, a tissue processing technique ensuring 100% margin evaluation.

Full Definition

Complete circumferential peripheral and deep margin assessment (CCPDMA) is a specialized histopathologic processing technique that allows examination of 100% of the surgical margins in excised specimens. This method involves specific sectioning and mounting procedures that orient tissue to evaluate the entire peripheral and deep margins of the excision. CCPDMA is particularly valuable in dermatologic oncology for high-risk skin cancers where complete margin assessment is critical for patient outcomes. The technique provides superior margin control compared to standard bread-loaf sectioning, which typically examines less than 5% of the margins.

Usage

Usage note: Always spell out the full term on first use, then use the acronym CCPDMA in subsequent references.
