Full Definition
A common dermatologic surgical procedure that combines mechanical removal (curettage) with electrical destruction (electrodesiccation) to treat superficial skin cancers and benign lesions. The procedure involves scraping the lesion with a curette to remove bulk tissue, followed by electrodesiccation to destroy remaining abnormal cells and achieve hemostasis. This cycle is typically repeated 2-3 times and is most appropriate for superficial basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas in low-risk locations.
