Tissue perfusion assessment involves the systematic evaluation of blood flow to skin and underlying tissues through clinical examination and sometimes adjunctive testing. Clinical indicators include capillary refill time, tissue color, temperature, and turgor. Advanced assessment may involve fluorescein angiography, laser Doppler flowmetry, or pulse oximetry. This evaluation is essential before and after reconstructive procedures to ensure adequate blood supply for healing and to detect early signs of flap compromise.
