The procedure involves a small, directed incision over the localized adenoma rather than comprehensive four-gland exploration. Intraoperative parathyroid hormone (PTH) monitoring confirms successful removal by demonstrating a greater than 50% decline in PTH levels within 10-15 minutes of gland removal. This approach offers reduced operative time, smaller incisions, and faster recovery compared to traditional bilateral neck exploration.
