Circuit Training

An exercise format involving sequential performance of different exercises at multiple stations with minimal rest between activities.

Full Definition

Circuit training is a structured exercise format where participants move through a series of exercise stations, performing different activities at each station for a predetermined time or number of repetitions before moving to the next station. In rehabilitation settings, circuits are designed to address multiple therapeutic goals simultaneously, such as cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance, and functional mobility. This format provides variety, maintains patient engagement, and allows for group treatment while accommodating different ability levels through station modifications.

Usage note: Describe the number and types of stations when documenting circuit training.
