Instrumental Activities of Daily Living represent higher-level functional tasks necessary for independent community living, including cooking, shopping, managing finances, housekeeping, transportation, and medication management. IADLs require greater cognitive and physical complexity than basic ADLs and are often the focus of later-stage rehabilitation when basic self-care has been restored.
