Oligohydramnios refers to decreased amniotic fluid volume, typically defined as an amniotic fluid index (AFI) less than 5cm or deepest vertical pocket less than 2cm. This condition can result from fetal kidney abnormalities, growth restriction, or placental insufficiency. It may lead to complications including pulmonary hypoplasia, skeletal deformities, and increased risk of cord compression during labor.
