Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a serious complication of monochorionic twin pregnancies where blood flows disproportionately from one twin (donor) to the other (recipient) through shared placental blood vessels. The donor twin becomes anemic and growth-restricted with oligohydramnios, while the recipient twin develops polycythemia, heart strain, and polyhydramnios. Treatment may include serial amnioreduction, laser photocoagulation of communicating vessels, or selective fetoscopic laser photocoagulation.
