Congenital disorder caused by entanglement of fetal parts in fibrous amniotic bands, resulting in deformities, constrictions, or amputations of limbs, digits, or other body parts. The condition is thought to result from early amnion rupture with subsequent formation of sticky fibrous bands. Severity ranges from minor digit constrictions to major limb defects or facial clefts. Fetal intervention may include band lysis or amputation to prevent further damage.
