STATIC-99R

Actuarial instrument for assessing sexual recidivism risk in adult male sexual offenders.

Full Definition

A revised version of the widely-used STATIC-99 risk assessment tool, designed to estimate the probability of sexual recidivism among adult male offenders who have already been convicted of at least one sexual offense. The instrument uses ten static risk factors (unchangeable historical factors) to generate risk estimates. STATIC-99R incorporates updated normative data and age-related adjustments to improve accuracy. It is commonly used in civil commitment proceedings and parole decisions.

Usage

Usage note: Always include the 'R' to distinguish from the original STATIC-99.

In Context

  • "The evaluator administered the STATIC-99R to assess long-term recidivism risk." — Risk assessment report
  • "STATIC-99R scores should be interpreted within confidence intervals rather than as precise predictions." — Expert testimony
