Full Definition
Gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) refers to any condition that mechanically obstructs the normal flow of gastric contents from the stomach into the duodenum. Common causes include peptic ulcer disease with pyloric stenosis, gastric or duodenal malignancy, and inflammatory conditions. Patients typically present with postprandial vomiting, early satiety, and weight loss. Surgical treatment options include gastrojejunostomy, pyloroplasty, or antrectomy depending on the underlying etiology and patient factors.
