Endorectal pull-through technique for Hirschsprung disease that preserves the rectal muscle cuff.
Full Definition
An endorectal pull-through procedure for treating Hirschsprung disease in which the aganglionic bowel mucosa and submucosa are removed while preserving the outer muscle layers of the rectum. Normal ganglionic bowel is then pulled through this muscular cuff and anastomosed to the anal canal. The technique was developed by Franco Soave in 1964 and can be performed via transanal, open, or laparoscopic-assisted approaches.
